De’Anna’s afghans for Mended Little Hearts

I received an email from De’Anna who recently made some afghans for a charity called Mended Little Hearts.  I really love how they turned out.  The top picture is my pattern called Christmas Heart and is part of the Christmas Cheer Afghan patterns which is a free set of patterns.  It looks so pretty!  The ripple pattern is my Rainbow Heart Round Ripple pattern.  She did a great job and I believe they will be cherished!

Here is her email.

Hi Donna,

I thought you would like to see the afghans I made so far with the patterns I got from you. They went to a program called Mended Little Hearts to go with the care packages they put together ❤ Thank you very much for offering such fun and easy to read patterns.

Kay’s Peace Out Blanket

I received an email from Kay and she made this awesome afghan from my Peace Out pattern.  She has made this child size afghan for Project Linus.  Some lucky child is going to have such a big smile when he or she receives it.   I think it is so darned cute!  I love it.
Way to go Kay!  I just love seeing what everyone does with my patterns.  Please feel free to send me pictures of items you’ve made anytime!

Thank you for sending your charity squares for the Peace Sign Afghan

I received an email from Mary who operates the charity called Online Angels.  She sent me this wonderful picture of Peace Sign squares received and made into the Peace afghan.  We both want to thank all of you who have requested the free pattern and followed through sending squares.  There is still a need for more squares for more afghans though so keep them coming.  Remember, they accept all kinds of squares.  6″ x 6″ and 12″ x 12″ along with many other items.  If you don’t crochet or knit, they have other ways you can help.

Here is the link for their new blog:  http://craftingforonlineangels.blogspot.com/ and they also have a Yahoo Group that is very active.  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Online-Angels/

OnlineAngels

I had a very nice email from Mary who has an organization that needs knitting and crocheting help.

Please click on their link at the bottom of this posting and check out this charity. Let’s spread the love around everyone. When looking at the progress of this charity (you can find it near the bottom of their home page) it looks like they went from delivering 18 boxes in 2000 to over 6,000 in 2009. That is quite a growth and shows the need that there is to help people in need!

Mary says they need and accept:

6 and 12 inch crochet squares,

Laprobes, blankets, quilts, afghans

Hats, gloves, scarves, mittens, earwarmers

Slippers

Chemo hats

Pillowcases

All baby items

Stockings

Please dig into your hearts and help those in need!

Backloop Scarf – Free Pattern

SCARVES FOR SENIORS PROJECT
A good friend of mine works at a rest home in Massachusetts and he has started a project called “Scarves for Seniors.” One of my favorite patterns is just a simple scarf that I know is so simple it can’t be claimed as an original pattern so I make no claims to it being my pattern. I’ll just type up the pattern below for those who might be interested in using it.

Please crochet or knit a scarf (use whatever pattern you’d like) for a less fortunate, deserving senior citizen, many of whom will have no one and receive nothing for the holidays. When your scarf is complete, email Lee at Distinctives123@verizon.net for the address. He works the night shift and will sort the scarves into male and female scarves and pass them out. Let’s bring some cheer to others in need this year.

UPDATE: LEE WROTE ME THE FOLLOWING:

I am not looking for any certain colors or patterns only that the scarf be long and wide enough for resident to double over ( it gets very windy). IF the person making the scarf felt led to include a little note to resident that is also welcomed as they do not get much mail. Also include their email addy so I can email that scarf arrived and thank them too. Like I had said after I will sit with residents and help to write out thank you notes – residents will enjoy this! Thanks Donna. I will keep you informed of how it is going.

SO sad that these people have no one. We have 22 residents – will be getting a new lady tomorrow she is 95. Only three of them have family that call or come by and then not often enough. The home can hold up to 29. My mailing address is:

Lee Imbriani / 5 Daniels Hgts #8/ Fitchburg, MA 01420

Thanks again, Lee

Peace Squares for charity – received so far

Hi everyone,

I wanted to show you the squares I’ve received so far. As a reminder, all squares received will be used for charity blankets. Thank you to everyone who has sent in a square. After I receive enough squares to make several blankets, I’ll be open for suggestions as to which charity would like to receive any future squares that will be sent in. I’ll then change the address in the pattern for all future squares to be sent to your suggestions of various charities instead of to me.

Remember, this is a free pattern. Just send me an email requesting the Peace Sign square and I’ll send it to you. Just promise to make one square to be sent to me for charity blankets.

Heavenly Angels In Need

Hi everyone,

I’ve received the letter below from Diana who’s charity needs some help from some fellow crocheters. Anyone wanting to help them out is definately a Heavenly Angel. I love it when they need squares and this charity accepts 6×6 and 12×12 so hopefully some of you are looking to help other’s in need.

Donna

Hello

I was checking out your blog and noticed this spot for charities and I wanted to submit some information on a childrens charity that I am involved with. Our donations are currently down so any extra help would be nice. If you need any other information please let me know, and thanks for helping bring awareness to these charities.

Heavenly Angels In Need offers many different kinds of help to babies, children and their families in need.

For babies we offer hats, booties, blankets, clothing and sadly when the need arises we offer burial garments. And for children we could also use hats, blankets, stuffed toys, and also 6×6 or 12×12 inch squares to use for blankets and tote bags.

Charity Afghans by Joyce aka Lady_n_Thread

Hi all,
I was checking out Ravelry the other day and found where Joyce aka Lady_n_Thread had used several patterns I created to make these wonderful afghans for a great cause. I just had to show you all the pictures. She was one of the wonderful testers of both of these squares when the patterns were in the testing stage.
Fox’s Little Boxes

Patterns were Fox’s Little Boxes on the left and Fox’s Revised Heart of a Child on the right

Here’s the links to her blog and her information about Victory Junction and the afghans. The pictures are clickable for a larger view of the afghans.

Thanks Joyce for letting me show off your wonderful charity afghans.

Little Toes

Here’s another cool idea for helping a charity with some awesome ideas. One of the followers of this blog…. CrochetChris has this to say:

Hi, I was reading on your blog, (great blog by the way!) And I wanted to let you know of a great group I belong to, Little Toes. We are always looking for squares to put together for blankets for the children.

Thank you!

Here is her email address so you can contact her directly:
sharonteague@charter.net

Here’s some information from the charity itself and a link to their blog:

We are a yahoo group dedicated to donate hand made items (blankets, hats, booties, toys, etc!). We donate every four months to hospitals all over the U.S and Canada. We believe in the power that hides behind giving just out of love. If you think you can join a great cause, please feel free to visit us at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Happy_Little_Toes/. We are starting our 5th projects and we receive new members with open arms!

It looks like they change where they donate items to each month. What a wonderful idea. I hope some of you will consider donating to another great cause. As always, don’t forget to send me some pictures of squares, blankets etc. that you send to this charity.

Angel Stitchers

Here’s another wonderful idea for helping a charity with great causes. One of the followers of this blog…. Cynthia has this to say:

I run a charity called the Angel Stitchers. We have not established a web site yet….it’s on the list of things to do! We crochet and knit items for agencies such as Pregnancy Centers, Homeless Shelters, Cancer Centers, Red Cross, and Salvation Army. The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is our current project. We will accept anything, yarn…any length from 3 ft to 3000 ft…baby items, afghans, any handmade clothes–such as vest, ponchos, sweaters, purses/totes, jewelry or anything else they can think of. All most ALL of the people we donate to have NOTHING and the reservation is still in the winter months and people are dying from exposure daily.

We would really appreciate anything you would consider helping us with. Please e-mail me before sending anything. cklocke@carolina.rr.com Be blessed……Cynthia

UPDATE: They also accept 6″ x 6″ and 12″ x 12″ squares. I’m sure some of you have a few extra squares to donate to a great cause. Please send pictures to me of any squares or items you make that you will donate to this wonderful charity so I can post them on the blog.
